Push Back The Limits of Precision.
Innovation at Focal goes way beyond technology. Their obsession is with the end result: the delight of sound in all its harmonic richness; its purity and its precision in relation to the musical work. Moreover, they focus their efforts on the speaker driver, the core of Focal’s DNA, what the history of their business is built around: technology, mechanics and sophisticated materials.
The Sopra line is destined for sound enthusiasts. When expectations are so high, the design must provide solutions which go far beyond aesthetics and shape. This represents a great deal of work in terms of industrial design, which must serve acoustic experts and favour performance, whilst bringing together the qualities expected of an object which will be integrated into very elegant interiors and décors.

KEF was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke and was initially headquartered in a Nissen Hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry (from where the name KEF is derived) - a metal-working company on the banks of the River Medway, near Maidstone in Kent. Cooke, an ex-BBC Electrical Engineer, was keen to experiment with new materials and technologies in order to create products with superior acoustic quality that could reproduce recordings as natural as the original performance. From the very beginning, the pioneering inventiveness of KEF loudspeakers was undeniable and now for several decades, audiophiles around the world have revered KEF for its innovative, high-performance loudspeakers.
50 years of innovation in sound
Innovation is what sets KEF apart. It's why they've always attracted some of the world's most gifted acoustic engineers.
The results are plain to see, in long lists of breakthroughs that no other manufacturer can match - and they have the patents and academic papers to prove it. Right from the start, they pioneered the use of synthetic materials for diaphragms and driver surrounds to maintain consistent sound quality across the frequency range.
In 1982, Jerry VanderMarel, a seasoned veteran of consumer electronics and loudspeaker sales, teamed with Scott Bagby, a loudspeaker designer with a long history of innovative ideas. Together, they went back to the drawing board and developed a radical new speaker. To find the sweet spot, they tapped university audio researchers and detailed scientific findings from the audio studies conducted by the National Research Council of Canada.
The point was to achieve a level of performance that would erase the speaker itself from the equation. Pure, lifelike audio, uninhibited by coloration, unrestrained in its ability to translate power into sound. And to do it at a price that would allow anyone to experience this magic.
Paradigm has been setting the precedent for innovation and technology in loudspeaker manufacturing for more than 30 years. That tradition continues with the new Prestige Series, by combining new technologies with smart engineering that provides astonishing performance at an incredible value – completely crafted in their Canadian facility.
Allen Boothroyd and Bob Stuart met in Cambridge, where they discovered shared interests and philosophies in audio equipment design. Their first collaboration was on the Lecson hi-fi system, a design so innovative that it’s now part of the permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. Says Allen, “The Lecson made the leap from something that was not merely acceptable as a piece of audio equipment, but was actually desirable as an objet d’art.”
Meridian introduced the concept of the Digital Active DSP Loudspeaker more than 20 years ago and has been at the forefront of loudspeaker technological breakthroughs ever since. The DSP8000 is Meridian's flagship loudspeaker, and the Special Edition makes its performance even more awe-inspiring than before. One of the few loudspeakers available that can reproduce the sound of a full-size grand piano at realistic volume and with realistic dynamic range, the DSP8000SE takes this landmark loudspeaker even further with the full range of Special Edition enhancements.

QX Series In-Wall Speakers
QX Series combine elegant, modern style with James legendary audio performance. New border-less aluminum grilles have less than 3/16” of trim, giving these speakers a clean, streamlined appearance that seamlessly integrates into any designed space. The grilles attach via grille cups, for simple, quick installation. A one-step paint process saves time compared to traditional in-wall/in-ceiling speakers. QX Series speakers are available in two configurations (2-way & 3-way), and in various audio performance levels, allowing the designer and installer to choose the shape best suited for the architectural space while providing the level of sound quality desired by the client. QX Series speakers feature aluminum cone woofers with Santoprene rubber surrounds and quad aluminum tweeter arrays that deliver reference-quality sound. The new quad tweeter array was designed to provide greater dispersion which helps direct the sound at listeners for excellent stereo performance, even in rooms with speakers mounted in less than perfect locations. QX Series speakers feature a unique three piece installation method employing a light weight frame, independent speaker body and border-less grille. All enclosures are constructed of aircraft/marine grade aluminum, making these speakers a perfect choice for any vessel or outdoor environment.

Sonance Invisible Series
The Sonance Invisible Series is the ultimate expression in architectural audio. Installed as an in-wall or in-ceiling speaker and then finished over with the surrounding surface, Invisible Series speakers deliver ambient music that emanates throughout the space with no visual footprint.
The goal of the Invisible Series products is to allow custom installation pros make the speakers truly disappear without compromising sound. The Sonance Invisible Series completely rewrites the rules, giving interior designers what they’ve been demanding for so long - preservation of the aesthetics of interior design - while freeing the audio system designer to choose speaker locations based purely on performance, rather than the visual demands of customers or designers.
Sonance Invisible Series speakers are finished over with the same material as the adjoining wall or ceiling surface, including regular drywall finishing compound and paint, wallpaper, wood veneer, or even venetian plaster. They don’t just blend into the wall or ceiling, they become part of it.
