Ortofon was established in 1918 by the two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen. Now Ortofon is a micro-mechanical powerhouse, which develops and manufactures the world acclaimed phono cartridges for vinyl records.

Ortofon 2M Mono
The 2M Mono phono cartridge features an improved engine, which provides a high level of sonic accuracy. The stylus' tip features a R 18µm Nude Spherical diamond that is an optimal solution for playing mono microgroove LP vinyl records. The cartridge body is manufactured from Hopelex, which ensures high rigidity while eliminating unwanted resonances.
The 2M Mono uses a strapped output to deliver the same output signal from both sets of pole pins. This effectively eliminates the need for mono-specific equipment, making it possible to enjoy true mono reproduction on any stereo playback system.
Ortofon 2M 78
The 2M 78 phono cartridge features an improved engine, which provides a high level of sonic accuracy. The stylus' tip is a Spherical diamond that is perfect for playback of 78 rpm shellac records, which require a larger stylus profile. The cartridge body is manufactured from Hopelex, which ensures high rigidity while eliminating unwanted resonances.

Ortofon 2M Red

With the 2M Red you will hear the music come to life on its own terms. It is like taking a step into music itself. This is our entry-level cartridge in the series, but what an entry.
The 2M Red features a tipped Elliptical diamond and split pole pins with a copper wire. The engine provides an increased output of 5.5 mV and an optimized sound reproduction and a high level of sonic accuracy.
Designed for easy mounting of the cartridge, and for the weight and size to fit the most common turntables on the market today. The 2M Series provides excellent compatibility when used in an assortment of playback systems and with a wide variety of phono preamps.

The goal for any cartridge should be to reproduce the sound as close to the artists vision as possible, and the 2M blue takes you further on this journey of authenticity. With the 2M Blue you get serious about listening to vinyl.
